BAS music program

BAS has four singing choirs, three handbell choirs, string orchestra, chamber ensemble and a hand puppet band.  There is a K-2 choir, 3-5 choir,  7th/8th Girls Choir, Middle School Select Choir and the BAS Puppet/Bell Hand Band.

Students rehearse bi-weekly and perform to packed audiences several times per year.  Students from as early as Kindergarten learn to sing in a choir.   At various points throughout the year, middle school students go to minister at a variety of places such as nursing homes, area churches, the General Conference, the North American Division and The Mall in Columbia. Music field trips are scheduled each year to local concert halls and drama stages.

General classroom music is taught to all grades bi-weekly and includes learning about the many aspects of music. Kindergarten through second grade learns about singing, rhythm, listening, dynamics, beat and movement with various percussion instruments, scarves and bean bags. Third and fourth graders learn to sing, play recorder, count and read notes. Fifth through eighth graders learn to sing, play ukuleles and English handbells.

BAS orchestra

The BAS string orchestra began in 2013.  It has grown each year. Students perform at churches, for school musical programs and in the community.

BAS Hand band

The BAS Hand Band was formed in 2022. It is an outreach ministry team of 8th graders who illustrate Bible stories and songs with puppets and handbells. They travel to local churches and minister to children.
